Dreamtastraphy
(A short story)

"Wake up Jack! It's time to wake up!" It was early morning, three o'clock. As Jack woke up, he went from a laying position to a sitting position. He rubbed his eyes, stood up, and walked to the door of his room. He opened the door and went out of his room.

"Why do I have to wake up so early?" Jack asked in the hall way. No one replied, they did not quite understand what words came out of his mouth. Jack was tired after all.

Then the mother said, "Jack, come down and have a croissant, we need to pack our bags." Jack walked down the stairs, walked through the living room, still rubbing his eyes. He walked through the living room, and to the dining room. He sat down on a chair and waited.

"Son, you've been waiting at the table for ten minutes. Why haven't you gotten the croissant, it is just on the counter top." Jack's father asked him. He decided to get the croissant for Jack.

After about an hour they were ready to put their packed stuff in the car. They all got in the car and they got the GPS ready. They had planned a fourteen hour drive. Jack brought his pillow with and his brother also. His brother was about four and a half years older then him. They were on the road now, Jack literally only just put his seat belt on and he already fell back to sleep.

At that moment lights began to dim slowly but surely until there was no light at all. Jack felt this tight strain. As a light came on, Jack squinting his eyes to adjust to the light. "Do you know why you are here?" This random guy asked.

Jack looked down, he realized he was strapped to a chair with ropes and duct tape. He replied, "No, I'm nothing special to be kidnapped, why of all the people, would I be kidnapped?"

"That's a good question, I was hoping you could tell me." The guy said. "My name is Ondes by the way."

"Well Ondes, why would you kidnap me?" Jack said with a curious expression on his face. There was no sign of fear on his face.

"You are here because you have the power to destroy people, you will be trained by me to become the villain you are destined to become."  Ondes proclaimed.

There was this slight hint of fear and regret on Jack's face, not just fear and regret but a sense of clueless yet kind of like a Déjà vu, like he had experience this dream before. "Why would I follow you, I don't even know you, you are a stranger."

Then Ondes said, "I'm pretty sure we have met before, remember when you were five years old I told you to steal candy from the candy jar? That was one of my tests for you, I will have you do one more test, a test that will conclude you are a villain. Not just any villain, a super villain!"

"I do remember a face similar to you, you never told me your name when you gave me the idea to steal candy. What's this test of yours?" Jack asked.

"Oh, in time, you will find out. Not some test where you know what you are tested on. Of course not! No, your test results will be revealed to you when you have finished the test." Ondes explained.

The light went off, for a few seconds, Jack could feel something getting looser and looser. Ondes turned the light on. "What is your next move?" Jack looked at what he had in his hand and he gripped it tighter, he ran to Ondes. "Come at me, give it your best!" Ondes shouted.

All of a sudden there was this tremble. As Jack was running to Ondes, almost tripped, but he recovered and there was a moment of shock as the blade of the knife stabbed Ondes in the stomach. Jack felt a little bit wet and sticky fingers. He looked down with a frown growing stronger.

"Congratulations, you have past the test! You are..." Ondes said fading away.

"No! What are you doing Jack?" Jack wasn't sure where the voice was coming from.

After two hours Jack woke up and looked up. At first he saw fifty doctors, but re rubbed his eyes and then noticed there were only five, and he notice a bunch of wires and tubes and all that sort of stuff. He asked the doctor, "Where are my parents, We were driving in the car and..."

A doctor cut him off and said, "Sssh! you should not talk so much, it is bad for you. Your father is on the bed to your right, your mother is in the room next door. Your brother will most likely not make it for much longer."

"What? What happened to him?" Jack asked.

"Your brother had glass shattered into his scalp and he is bleeding into his stomach and we have managed to block off the hole that punctured the stomach wall." Jack started getting tears, but he was trying to wipe them away. "What?" The doctor shouted, then he ran out of the room.

After twenty minutes the doctors came back and told Jack that his brother past away. "You are going to need to stay in the hospital for about two weeks, we need to run tests and police want to investigate this because they need to know for sure whether or not you stabbed your brother."

Jack looked away, felt sadness and regret and he whispered, "I am only an eleven year old."
